This paper describes the design of a 3GHz-10GHz frequency synthesizer for Multi-band OFDM in Ultrawideband (UWB) transceiver in CMOS technology.As there is a requirement of high speed data rate, reduction in chip size and low power consumption for wireless devices there is demand for high speed complex signal processing architectures. Bandwidth is another precious commodity, according to FCC regulations available unlicensed bandwidth is 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz  (UHB band). In this paper the system requirements for a synthesizer inan Ultra-Wideband (UWB) is discussed. OFDM is a combination of modulation and multiplexing, signal itself is first split into independent channels, modulated by data and then remultiplexed at the receiver, in this the frequency synthesizer operates in the band group, where number of bands are divided with available frequency. Data which is to be transferred is split using multiplexer and can be transferred in each band separately and combined at the receiver. An efficient frequency planning is proposed to minimize the number of RF blocks, the number of channels could be obtained from single fixed frequency.
