Abstract

In Sugarcane, bud and node are used for plantation. As traditional Node cutting is uneconomical,sluggish, results in wastage, Automatic Node cutting machine is designed and fabricated. The main challenge is to sense natural node automatically, given any type, color and diameter of sugarcane done by RGB sensors. During operation, sugarcane is automatically fed on conveyor belt. It senses node and sends signal to programmed microcontroller. This signal operates solenoid valve and stops movement of conveyor belt. It actuates U-shaped cutting blade operated by pneumatic cylinder. Cutting blade at high force moves in forward direction, node gets cut between blades.
