The aim of our work was to fabricate a low cost Solar Tracking Mechanism using a micro-controller to control the movements of a DC motor which has been mechanically coupled to the solar panels. The micro-controller using light dependent resistors used to detect the intensity of sunlight controls the DC motor by giving the appropriate signal to the driving circuit for the motor. Further analysis has been done on the increase in the PV power of the solar panels both before and after the tracking mechanism has been incorporated. This shows increase in efficiency of the solar panels.
